It’s the first week of the school holidays and this newsletter will be changing pace to fortnightly.

There’s a new cafe opening in Stirchley where Yardbirds was. It’s called SUNDAYS. They are sharing updates here. I’ve had to google some of the slang they’re using, as I’m a millennial and a bit out of touch. Good luck to them in their new space/welcome to Stirchley.
Birmingham Tree People are looking for volunteers at their space in Kings Heath Park - the next upcoming date for a volunteer session is Saturday 25 July from 10am-1pm. Info
Charles Dowding of NO DIG fame (horticultural royalty IMO) is heading to Hampton Manor on Sunday 26 July from 10am. If I wasn’t off camping I would want to go to this. Tickets
Stirchley Sewing School are getting on really well in their new unit! Artist Emma Richter is holding an acrylic painting workshop (for adults) there on Thursday 30 July at 12noon-2pm. Tickets
Rave Against Racism are holding an event at Deadwax in Digbeth on Saturday 1 August from 12noon-2pm. ‘Love is the message, a party for peace and unity’. There will be live acts, poets, screenprinting and more. Info
PLONK’s jazz night was rescheduled due to the football, so their new date for the event is Wednesday 5 August at their new(ish) wine bar in Cotteridge. Tickets
The Shed (that’s the building in Cotteridge Park) are looking for a new manager. A nice job in a special place. View the details.
Lastly my baby turned one last week and we had our photos taken by local photographer Carolyn Carter to mark the occasion. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a family shoot / portrait, she also does wedding and event photography too. You’ll quite often find her in Hedge.
