Coworker Jim (pictured second from the left below) is part of The Basement Band - a 17 piece Big Band playing music from across the Big Band tradition. They have a gig on Sunday 17 May from 3pm-5pm, doors at 2.30, at the Stirchley United WMC on Hazelwell Lane. £5 on the door (cash or card). More details on their Facebook event page
Kaye Winwood Birmingham-based food and sensory artist, runs Gulp, a venue in the Jewellery Quarter. Gulp’s latest newsletter includes details about their upcoming events, behind the scenes and projects. Reminder: Flatpack Film Festival started last week (8 May) and runs until Saturday 16 May, across venues in Birmingham. It’s the 20th edition of the brain-expanding festival and you’re not too late to book a ticket to something. Take a look at the programme online, or pick up a printed programme/zine from festival venues.
Next week it’s Pint of Science Festival - there are events across the city, and a handful in Stirchley too - at Caneat and Stirchley Baths. More details.
