We’re here with your weekly dose of coworking space news and local links - a day early, with it being a bank holiday tomorrow. We wanted to remind you that we will be closed for the bank holiday - and opening up as usual, Tuesday-Friday, 9am-5pm, with Pendra, *Erin* and Ellie.
Thanks for the lovely replies to Monday’s newsletter (Newsletter 146 - Stirchley History), where we shared some old photos of the building. If you have any photos or stories to share about the building and its history, let us know!

Farewell to Jen
Our Wednesday keyholder Jen has moved to Worcestershire, and although she loves The Old Post Office, it’s quite the commute.
We’ve loved having Jen with us on a weekly basis and we know that she will be missed by Wednesday regulars.
If you’d like to stay in touch with Jen, she’s on instagram @jenloutilley and Linkedin. She assures us she will be back to visit - as she has family and other local friends in the area too. All the best Jen!

‘I’m Erin (they/she pls), I’m a cryptography (it’s a type of maths) researcher and occasional maths teacher. I will also soon be a psychology student. At TOPO I am the temporary plant guardian and a regular accountability buddy on Fridays. I am also the new Wednesday keyholder!
If you see me round and about, please feel free to say hi! Also tell me your answer to the eternal question: how many armpits does a cat have?
My playlist is a little collection of my faves — some artists you will know and (hopefully) love and others are new! I know the title says it’s for sad babs, but I think non-sad babs and non-babs of any mood are also welcome.’

Join new community group and inclusive feminist collective Bitches for a Better World at the coworking space on Sunday 7 September, 4pm-6pm for badge making and a cuppa.

This Wednesday 27 August it’s Weird on Purpose, a monthly showcase curated by This Is Tmrw at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath, celebrating emerging talent from the West Midlands. From 7.30pm-10.30pm. Tickets £5+bf
At Attic Brewery’s Taproom on Maryvale Road, Thursday 4 September - join local artist Flic Blades (pictured above at TOPO). Flic is holding a Paint and Pint event in the taproom. ‘Kick things off by grabbing a drink from the bar, then settle in with your canvas and let your imagination take over. All art supplies will be provided and Flic will be there to offer tips, ideas, and creative support along the way. There’s no set theme, so you’re free to paint whatever inspires you. We’ll have plenty of visual prompts to get you started and all levels of creative experience are welcome.’ From 7pm, Attic taproom, over 18s only. Tickets £20pp
There is a Free From Festival at The Bond in Digbeth on Saturday 13 and 14 September ‘The UK’s Only Gluten & Dairy Free Food Festival (with other free-from options available)’ which feels niche enough to include in our newsletter. Tickets £0-£65
There are roadworks on Pineapple Road for 8 weeks on account of the new station (exciting!)
And lastly, a reminder that we’re taking part in the first weekend of Birmingham Open Studios next month - with six artists exhibiting at The Old Post Office on Saturday 20 September and Sunday 21 September, 11am-5pm both days. Our list of artists is in Newsletter 140. Make a weekend of it and visit some of Birmingham Heritage Week’s events too!

The coworking space is open this week Tuesday to Friday between 9am-5pm
You can book:
a half day (9am-12.30pm / 1.30pm-5pm)
full day (9am-5pm)
school hours (9am-3pm)
Please note we are closed tomorrow, Monday 25 August
If you’d like to start something more regular here, you may like to consider a discounted monthly membership such a half a day a week / one day a week.
