This week’s newsletter is a short one, in comparison to the last few.
The main news is a reminder that it’s a bank holiday tomorrow (Monday 26 August). Having been a freelancer in the recent past, bank holidays didn’t mean an awful lot to me then - so if you need the reminder - we’ll be closed tomorrow. Open as usual in the daytime Tuesday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
Our regular accountability sessions are taking place on Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning - there is no Weds night accountability session this week, back to normal next week.

By now, if you’ve been to the coworking space - or you’ve been subscribed to the newsletter for a while, you’ll know that in the evenings the coworking space transforms into Stirchley Sewing School. Charlotte has added dates for her autumn/winter workshops including a Christmas class on Saturday 30 November.

Registered *charity* address service
Set up The Old Post Office in Stirchley as your registered address for a small annual fee (£8 per month), and support a small business by doing so. This means you don’t need to have your home address or private information listed on your company registration information.

From tomorrow (Monday 26 August) to Friday 30 August the Pershore Road will be closed between the British Oak and Hunts Road from 9.30am until 3.30pm. The 27 bus is unaffected, and the 45/47 will go up Cartland Road, turn into Vicarage Road and down Fordhouse Lane.
The final stage of Birmingham City Council’s library consultation is happening at the moment, Stirchley Library’s in-person consultation date has been set: Weds 4 Sept, 10.30am-12noon. The wording on the website says ‘Since 2014, there has been a reduction in people visiting library buildings’ and what it fails to mention is that since 2014 hours at libraries have been extensively reduced, which will of course affect visitor numbers - more info online. Birmingham & Solihull Social Economy Consortium (BSSEC)’s September Social Economy Forum is all about Financial Planning for your Social Business - Wednesday 18 September, 11am-12.30pm. The forum meet in different locations across the West Midlands, and the next meet-up is in Dudley. Their network is well worth joining if you are a WM-based social enterprise.
The next Stirchley Community Market ran by local volunteers is Saturday 21 September, 10am-3pm at Stirchley Baths. Design by Debra Nelson:
